Random night in San Francisco

Last updated on January 19, 2022

Like with most things on this trip…nothing is set in stone. My California geography was a little off and I didn’t realize that it was such a long drive from Lake Tahoe to San Francisco International Airport so we needed to add a stopover in Millbrae, known for Darius Ogden Mills, at one time California’s wealthiest citizen, but more importantly close to the airport. It did however give us an opportunity to catch up again with the Mayhews in San Francisco and send our cold-weather gear home. That was a heavy bag! We met for dinner at Fisherman’s Wharf and the kids had a blast. I’m not sure why every city with piers or a harbor doesn’t have a similar setup. This part of the city is hopping, international and so cool. I put this in the same category as the Spanish Village Art Center in San Diego, a must see if you visit. Every city should have something similar. We also drove by Oracle Park, the home stadium for the San Francisco Giants. What a cool stadium! This is what the Phillies should have done when they had the chance to put their stadium somewhere other than South Philly…biggest city of Philadelphia regret in my lifetime.

We finished the night with a visit to the local pier 39 sea lions, (I am still amazed at the camera on the new iPhones). I hope that the bike rickshaw driver had his game face on…five Mayhews and the family dog…that’s a rough ride to finish the night.
