We went swimming in Venus pool, also called Waioka pond. Venus pool is very big and can flash flood in a matter of seconds because the rain in the mountains above drains down into this valley. You have to be very careful to go on a dry day. It’s surrounded by rock cliffs and is up to fifty feet deep. As soon as we got there Sy, my dad and I jumped off some of the rocks into the pool.
There was also a big 35 foot high spot that we saw a few people jump off and I wanted to jump too. My dad and I jumped off the rock and into the water. Then we went to the beach at the bottom of the pond and swam around. Before we left I made sure to jump off the big rock 4 more times.
After we left, we got lunch and went to a black sand beach. There was a cave next to the beach that lead to the ocean, Sy and I climbed up to the top of the cave.
Then we hiked up the path next to the beach overlooking the ocean. The plants were all neon green.
This looks like such a fun day! Were you scared to jump from 35 feet?! I would have had to build up some courage.
